Obituary

This is the obituary that will go into the newspaper sometime this weekend or the beginning of next week.

GARY K. SALLEE
November 9, 1965 - January 10, 2009

Gary Sallee, 43, died January 10, 2009 at his home in Laguna Niguel, after a long and brave battle with cancer.

Gary was born on November 9, 1965 in St. Charles, Missouri. He was the youngest of five children and moved to California at the age of 9.

Gary was a devoted husband and amazing father. Lisa and Gary married in 1996 and their three boys soon followed. Gary was incredibly loved by family and friends in his community. He worked hard and was loyal and committed.

Gary never complained, was completely selfless and was an inspiration to many as he moved through his illness with grace and perseverance. Gary was a strong Christian and stood firm in his faith and belief that Jesus Christ died on the cross so that now he could go to be with Him in heaven for eternity.

Gary is survived by his wife, Lisa, three sons, Zachary, Nathan, Jax, and his faithful companion, Hobie. He is further survived by his parents, siblings, other relatives and countless friends.

His memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 14 at 1:00 PM at Presbyterian Church of The Master.
The reception will follow at Tijeras Creek Golf Club.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mountain View Church in Mission Viejo. All donations received will be placed in a fund that has been established for the Sallee Family.

We would like to thank our family and friends for taking such wonderful care of our family during this long battle. You are all so loved and cherished.

Gary, Man of few words...
A mighty witness to hundreds of his great faith in a Mighty God
...A confident victor not a helpless victim, living each a day closer to His God...speaking volumes about God's love, mercy, grace, peace and joy...knowing God is greater than what we see and that we haven't seen all He can do for our Gary...Gary, Man of few words, you went home today to be with your Lord, but only after a valiant fight for "this" life...you spoke more than a few words through your courageous battle with cancer..your life will "shout" to this world about God's sustaining love and great provision
...Your legacy will live on through your godly sons...Zach, Nate and even Jax...Your love and faith will live on in Lisa's live as she continues to be a "shining light" and a blessing to others as a "Woman of great faith"...We can "only imagine" what you will say to your Lord and Savior on this very day!

Lisa, Zach, Nathan, Jax (& Hobie),

I learned this morning of Gary's passing. I want you to know that although Gary is through his suffering and in the arms of our Lord, I truly feel a sense of sadness for the loss of a husband and father (& loyal pal to Hobie). I pray for you and your family. I am sad for the the void in your lives and in the hearts of all those who knew Gary, but know that through your strong faith, Christ will lift you up and care for you.

Gary will always remain within our hearts, and I have included Gary and your family in my daily prayers. May God give you strength. If you need anything, even someone to walk Hobie (I am a serious dog lover) I don't live far - just call.

Hugs and sincere love to you and the boys.

God Bless,

Jackie (Sam's mom)

That's a beautiful obituary. I'm glad Hobie got a mention too. I'm sure he knows what's going on. You will be in my thoughts this week.

Hi Sallee family,
I don't think I have ever met Gary, but I was saddened to hear about his passing. It is inspiring to hear about his faith. I am a distant cousin, grandson of Elden Sallee, and Greg Sallee let me know the news. I will remember your family in my prayers too.
Sincerely,
Mark, Maggie, and Anna Sallee - Colorado - marksallee@earthlink.net

It was very sad to hear of Gary's passing. Although I never had the privilege of knowing Gary, I do know how deeply he touched the lives of Sam, Ron, Gavin and Maddy. He must have been very special.

You and your boys will be in my prayers.
